Durban City's Sinamandla Zondi remembered as talented, humble leader

Zondi, affectionately known as Sgora, was remembered by his former coach Andile Cele from Maritzburg Club Youth Development Academy, where he began playing at age 13.

"He was a truly talented young man with a bright future. This is a huge loss for all of us," Cele told The Witness.

Zondi was also a former first-team soccer captain at Alexandra High School, where principal Anusha Pillay described him as a passionate and humble leader.

"He stood out as an all-rounder, grounded in humility. Beyond the field, he was known for his warm spirit and quiet strength."

Zondi began his schooling at Bisley Park Primary, which also extended condolences to his family on social media.

His sudden passing has left a deep void in both the sporting and school communities of Pietermaritzburg, with many mourning not just the loss of a promising player, but a genuinely kind-hearted young man.
