The Limpopo based side took an early lead in the second minute after Lehlohonolo Mojela finished off from a Shaune Mogaila cross to give United the early lead.
Sekhukhune defender Daniel Cardoso came close to doubling the lead in the tenth minute with a header before Orbit began to launch attacks of their own through Yanga Madiba and Mbulelo Wagaba.
Both sides struggled to keep possession or create clear chances from the start of the second half until a smart pass by Vusimuzi Mncube split open Orbit's defence, and the ball fell kindly for Mojela (74'), to go round goalkeeper Cyril Chibwe and put the ball into a vacant net for 2-0.
The result sees Sekhukhune move up to third spot on the Betway Premiership table while the Mswenko Boys remain in 15th position.
The teams will be next in action in a fortnight in the Premiership, when Orbit hosting Richards Bay on Saturday, February 28, while Sekhukhune will be away to Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, March 1.
