Nico Schlotterbeck declares title race 'back on' on after Dortmund's dramatic win

Dortmund looked in control when Waldemar Anton headed them in front just before half-time, but the match turned moments later. Julian Niehues equalised in stoppage time at the end of the first half and then struck again early in the second to put Heidenheim 2-1 ahead.

With Dortmund struggling to find rhythm, Serhou Guirassy changed the game in the space of 90 seconds. The striker calmly converted a penalty on 68 minutes before scoring again a minute later to complete a rapid turnaround and secure all three points.

After Bayern dropped points for the second straight week, Schlotterbeck made it clear Dortmund believe again.

"I once heard that if you poke Bayern, they wobble," the centre-back told DAZN. "They're coming to our place soon. I think as BVB we need to start saying: ‘We want to be champions!'"

The Germany international admitted Dortmund rode their luck but had no doubts about the importance of the result. "We were a bit lucky today, but I don't give a damn. We won," he added.

Heidenheim remain bottom of the Bundesliga table on 13 points and are now seven games without a win. Head coach Frank Schmidt felt his side were hard done by.

"This is a terrible result for us," Schmidt said. "We didn't deserve to lose. Dortmund were lucky. We dominated large parts of the second half and a 3–3 draw would have been fair."

For Dortmund, it was another gritty win - and, according to Schlotterbeck, a clear signal that the title chase is far from over.
