Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu returns to Trabzonspor, vows to finish 'unfinished business'

The 31-year-old Nigerian forward completed his move on Wednesday night after Trabzonspor reached an agreement with Southampton.

Onuachu previously spent the 2023/24 season on loan at the club, where he quickly became a fan favourite - scoring 15 goals and registering four assists in just 21 league appearances, according to AllNigeriaSoccer.com.

He arrived in Turkey via private jet from Amsterdam and was welcomed by a large group of passionate supporters at the airport, further underlining his strong connection with the Trabzonspor faithful.

"I felt that love when I came on loan. Now I'm here for many years. I have unfinished business with this city and this team," Onuachu was quoted by Turkish outlet Nefes.

"I saw the love of the fans when I first came, and I see the same love today. I didn't consider other offers because I wanted to be here."

Known for his towering presence and clinical finishing, Onuachu is determined to pick up where he left off, stating that his goal is to score as many goals as possible and help Trabzonspor achieve success under their current coach.

"I'm here to reciprocate that love. We want to do good things this season with my team and our coach," he added.

Following a difficult 2024/25 season at Southampton, Onuachu sees this move as an opportunity to reignite his career and repay the trust and affection shown to him by the Trabzonspor supporters.
