Musa's appointment was confirmed by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as part of sweeping changes aimed at revamping the club ahead of the 2025/26 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The ex-Leicester City and CSKA Moscow winger, who had two stints as a player with Pillars, now returns to lead from the front office.
"This is a strategic move to reposition the club," said Governor Yusuf's spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in an official statement, PM News reported.
"Ahmed Musa brings not just international experience but a strong connection to the club and the people of Kano."
Alongside Musa's new role, the state government also reconstituted the club's management board, retaining most of the previous members who guided the team to a mid-table 9th-place finish last season.
The restructuring followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders, signaling the administration's intention to transform the club into a genuine title contender.
Ali Muhammad Umar (popularly known as Nayara) was named Chairman of the board, which also includes figures such as Idris Malikawa Garu, Abdulkarim Audi Chara, and Media Directors Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash and Ismail Abba Tangalash.
Musa's return is being hailed as symbolic, uniting past glory with future ambition.
His leadership is expected to inspire both players and fans, reigniting the club's competitive edge and reinforcing its cultural significance in Nigerian football.
With the 2025/26 NPFL campaign looming, hopes are high that Musa's presence will usher in a new era for the four-time league champions - one rooted in ambition, experience, and homegrown pride.
