The club confirmed Blom's arrival on Friday, unveiling him alongside English striker Kyle Hudlin as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
"Welcome, Kyle Hudlin and Njabulo Blom, to the big Southern Blue Steel family," read a statement from the club.
Hudlin, a towering 2.01m forward born on 15 June 2000, previously played for Huddersfield Town B and Newport County in England. Blom, born on 11 December 1999, is a South African midfielder who last featured in Major League Soccer for St. Louis CITY SC and has also represented the South African national team, Bafana Bafana.
Blom's career has taken several turns since he rose through the ranks at Kaizer Chiefs. After a promising stint in the United States with St. Louis CITY SC, where he impressed in his early performances, he was later loaned back to Chiefs for the 2024/25 season.
However, the Soweto giants opted not to make the deal permanent, reportedly due to underwhelming form. During his loan spell, he featured in 19 matches - starting 10 - and was deployed both at right-back and in defensive midfield.
With the Chiefs deciding against exercising their purchase option, Blom now looks to rebuild his form and reputation in Southeast Asia.
