Njabulo Blom secures move to Vietnamese champions Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC
Former Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom has officially joined Vietnamese V.League 1 champions Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC, marking a fresh chapter in his football journey.

While Rusike is not Blom's agent, the Sweden-based football intermediary played a role in helping facilitate the player's loan return to Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the 2024/25 season after a difficult spell in the United States.
Blom joined MLS side St. Louis City in December 2023 following a prolonged internal standoff with Chiefs, hoping to establish himself abroad.
However, his time in America proved challenging, with an injury halting his progress and limiting his chances to cement a regular place in the team. After just nine months, the Bafana Bafana midfielder sought a loan move back to Naturena.
Speaking to Soccer Laduma, Rusike explained that Blom's experience highlights how quickly circumstances can change in professional football.
"Football is difficult, like any other job. Different countries offer different things, and unfortunately Njabulo suffered an injury that was not part of the plan," Rusike said.
Despite returning to familiar surroundings, Blom was unable to secure a permanent stay at Chiefs, with the club choosing not to exercise an option to re-sign him. Rusike believes the decision was influenced by the club's broader rebuilding strategy rather than any doubts about Blom's quality.
"Njabulo is a great player and a great talent, but clubs are structured. Chiefs are rebuilding and they have a long-term plan," he added, expressing confidence in Amakhosi's sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr.'s vision.
Blom has since moved to Vietnam to join Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC, where he links up with fellow South African Percy Tau. While the move surprised many locally, Rusike suggested it could be a strategic step.
"These Asian leagues are unknown to many South Africans, but some clubs compete in the Asian Champions League — including the one Njabulo signed for," he explained.
Rusike concluded that Blom's path shows there is no single route to success in today's global game, with emerging markets offering fresh opportunities for players willing to explore them.
