Nkosinathi Sibisi praises Kabelo Kgositsile ahead of MTN8 clash with Durban City

The 21-year-old winger made his first-team debut in Pirates' opening Betway Premiership fixture against Milford FC, coming off the bench during a 2-0 victory at home.

Kgositsile's performance has added to the excitement around the club's emerging talent, with Sibisi revealing that the youngster is one of several promising players pushing for opportunities in the senior team.

Speaking at the 2026 MTN8 launch in Johannesburg, the Pirates skipper praised Kgositsile's qualities and believes his debut could prove important as he looks to establish himself in Abdeslam Ouaddou's squad.

"Look, an exciting talent, but not him alone. I think we have a couple of them," Sibisi said.

"For him, I think it was a much-needed debut, playing at home. It's going to boost his confidence, and what a better way to make your Pirates debut than a win at home."

Sibisi believes Kgositsile's ability to take on defenders makes him an exciting prospect, qualities that could potentially give Pirates another attacking option as they enter the MTN8.

"I think he's an exciting winger, loves the one-versus-ones. I think he's full of potential, and I think the fans and even the team will be mesmerised by his potential," he added.

Kgositsile did not travel with the Pirates first team during their pre-season tour of Spain, making his immediate involvement in the opening league fixture particularly encouraging.

With Pirates beginning their quest for a fifth consecutive MTN8 title, the emergence of players such as Kgositsile could provide Ouaddou with additional options during a demanding campaign.
