Orbit College earn crucial three points at Rockets, Stellies held by Siwelele

TS Galaxy 1-2 Orbit College

Orbit College boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The Rockets made two changes following their loss to Siwelele FC, starting Tshepo Kakora and handing a debut to Sedwyn George, while the Mswenko boys welcomed back Ben Motshwari and Ayanda Lukhele. Kakora threatened early on, rifling a powerful low shot narrowly wide after ten minutes.

Orbit struck midway through the first half when a defensive error by Mlungisi Mbunjana allowed Gomolemo Khoto to fire into the top corner. A further mix-up between Ira Tape and Solomon Letsoenyo gifted Lesedi Kapinga an empty-net finish ten minutes before the interval.

Victor Letsoalo replaced George at the break and nearly made an instant impact, but Chibwe denied him and Junior Zindonga. Sphamandla Ngwenya pulled one back on 65 minutes, yet the Rockets' late pressure proved insufficient as Orbit held firm for a crucial win.

Siwelele 0-0 Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch missed the opportunity to break into the Betway Premiership top eight after being held to a goalless draw by Siwelele on Tuesday night.

The Bloemfontein outfit made the brighter start, with Vincent Pule and Christian Saile both going close inside the opening 15 minutes. Goalkeeper Sage Stephens produced vital saves to keep Stellenbosch level.

At the other end, Langelihle Phili and Ibraheem Jabaar threatened on the counter, while Asekho Tiwani forced a fine stop from Ricardo Goss with a powerful long-range effort late in the first half.

Gavin Hunt's men improved after the interval. Devin Titus picked out Enyinnaya Godswill just before the hour mark, but Goss denied the forward. Henric Stanic also missed a late header from a corner.

Despite late substitutions from both benches, neither side could find a breakthrough, leaving both teams short of ground in the race for the top eight.
