Paul Merson: Alexander Isak signing could catapult Arsenal to Premier League glory

The Gunners are on track to secure a third consecutive second-place finish, this time trailing Liverpool, but their ambitions remain sky-high as they gear up for a Champions League semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

Merson, speaking to Sportskeeda, pinpointed Isak as the key to unlocking Arsenal's title potential. "If Arsenal get him, they will win the league by 10 points," he declared.

The 26-year-old striker has been a standout for Newcastle, who are pushing for Champions League qualification themselves.

Merson noted, "Isak could play the waiting game. Newcastle are a big club now, and if they qualify for the Champions League, they'll be attractive. But Arsenal seem like the best move for him."

Elsewhere, former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott expressed regret over Chelsea's Moises Caicedo not joining the Gunners in 2023. Speaking on the Premier League's YouTube channel, Walcott praised the midfielder's resurgence under Chelsea's Enzo Maresca.

"Caicedo is as close as you'll get to a modern Claude Makelele or N'Golo Kante," he said. "He's an absolute rock, unlocking the door for players like Cole Palmer. Sadly, he's in the wrong shirt for me."

As Arsenal's new sporting director, Andre Berta, prepares for a busy transfer window, the focus is clear: a statement signing like Isak could be the catalyst for ending their Premier League drought. With Champions League success still in sight, the Gunners are determined to take the final step to glory.
