Pedri's golden season, aiming for glory with Barcelona

In an interview with Barca ONE, the Canarian midfielder expressed that he has longed to feel this way for some time and that now is the moment to enjoy it. He credits the coaching staff, including Hansi Flick, the physios, and the fitness coaches for hitting the right notes with his performance.

"I haven't felt this good in a long time, and now I'm enjoying it. I've wanted to be at this level for a while, and now that I am, I'm relishing every moment," Pedri said.

Reflecting on his special moments on the pitch, he highlighted his debut as particularly memorable. "The debut is always very special; it's the one that excited me the most," he remarked.

This season's standout match for him was the Supercopa final against Real Madrid. "The Supercopa final against Real Madrid was fantastic, and on a personal level, I believe I played very well against Atletico Madrid," Pedri stated.

Pedri also spoke highly of Hansi Flick's influence on his confidence. "Confidence from a coach is crucial, and Flick really gives you that. He trusts you to do what you know best. Also, the injuries are behind me now; I've had that continuity, and I'm enjoying it. His training methods suit me much better; we've found the right approach with the physios and fitness coaches."

When asked if this is the best campaign of his career, he responded, "So far, yes. But it needs to be reflected in titles. It's one of the seasons where I've felt most comfortable, similar to my first season here."

Regarding past injuries, Pedri admitted, "It was tough. At first, you think it's just one injury, but then you relapse and start questioning what you need to change. But that's all in the past now. I've learned a lot. One tries to block out all the rumors about partying or not doing gym work... most of it is lies, and you shouldn't give it importance. I've only changed how I train, not the hours."

On rest, he prefers to play rather than sit out, stating, "I'd rather play even if it's just 30 minutes, than not play at all."

His contract renewal was mutual. "The club wanted it, and so did I," Pedri affirmed.

Despite his young age, Pedri feels like a veteran within the Barcelona squad due to his tenure. "There are so many young players here. By time at the club, not by age, I am one of the veterans. In the dressing room, I feel important and influential. But you can't be too serious there (laughs). We're always smiling, which translates into our gameplay. Even when we lose, like against Atletico, fans leave happy because of how we play."

Looking to the future, Pedri is optimistic. "I think it's going to be a good future; we have a great team. Ultimately, I want to win titles, which is what Barcelona needs. Playing like this, we are on the right path. We've won one title this season, and we're still in the race for others."

His dream of lifting the Champions League with Barcelona is clear. "Hopefully," he said simply.

When he captained the team at El Sadar, he expressed, "It's an honour. Being at Barcelona has always been the best, imagine wearing the captain's armband."

On the league title, Pedri was pragmatic. "People get worried when you lose two or three matches... but it's true, we've had our moments. There are still many matches and points to play for. If we win all our games until the end of the season, we'll definitely be champions."

Finally, about the Champions League, he mused, "Why not dream? Dreaming is free. But it's true that in past years, we didn't perform well in big matches, we didn't win. This year, it's the opposite; we're winning and dominating."
