Pep Guardiola apologetic after confronting cameraman in defeat to Newcastle

The City manager lost his temper when a cameraman moved in close to film him during a tense post-match exchange, leading Guardiola to grab the cameraman's headset in a moment he now concedes was unacceptable.

Guardiola had been in animated discussions with Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes moments after the final whistle, still fuming over the decision to allow Harvey Barnes' 70th-minute strike to stand as the winning goal.

The City boss, clearly upset with aspects of the build-up to the goal, continued his complaints with the match officials on the pitch, creating a heated scene that attracted immediate attention from broadcasters.

It was during this confrontation that a nearby camera operator attempted to capture the exchange, prompting Guardiola's angry reaction.

Speaking afterwards, he acknowledged that his behaviour fell short of the standards expected of him, expressing regret for letting frustration boil over.

"I feel embarrassed and ashamed when I see it. I don't like it. I apologised to the cameraman after one second."

He added: “I defend my team and my club, that's for sure.”
