Presnel Kimpembe ends 20-year PSG journey to join Qatar Sports Club

The move was confirmed by both clubs on Sunday.

The 30-year-old centre-back, who joined PSG's youth academy in 2005 at the age of eight, leaves behind a legacy as one of the club's most loyal and decorated players. Over the course of his career in Paris, Kimpembe made 241 appearances, scored four goals, and wore the captain's armband on 31 occasions. He played a pivotal role in PSG's domestic and international dominance, helping the club secure eight Ligue 1 titles, five French Cups, four League Cups, five French Super Cups, the 2025 UEFA Champions League, and a UEFA Super Cup.

Kimpembe's journey with PSG was not without setbacks. In February 2023, he suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury that kept him out for nearly two years. He made only five appearances following his return, and with his contract set to expire, the move to Qatar SC offered a fresh start.

Despite the injury struggles in recent years, PSG made it clear how much the defender meant to the club.

"Presnel Kimpembe will forever remain a major player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain," the club stated. PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi added, "Since the age of eight, Presnel has grown and developed at every level within his beloved club, where he has always been an ambassador and model of professionalism. He is a fantastic example for the young players at our Youth Academy and will always be part of the Paris Saint-Germain family."

In an emotional farewell, Kimpembe addressed the fans: "I am very proud to have been part of this family. Defending these colors has been an honor. I leave with my head full of memories, but this never ends. We will see each other again soon."

On the international stage, Kimpembe has been capped 28 times by France. He was part of the squad that lifted the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 UEFA Nations League title. His last appearance for Les Bleus came in June 2022.
