Ederson leaves Man City for Fenerbahce as Gianluigi Donnarumma arrives from PSG

Ederson leaves City as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in the club's history. Since his 35 million pounds move from Benfica in 2017, the Brazilian made 372 appearances across all competitions, won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, six domestic cups, and lifted the UEFA Champions League trophy in 2023. He also kept 122 clean sheets in 276 Premier League games and remarkably registered seven assists.

"I arrived in Manchester eight years ago full of hope, but I could not have predicted such a beautiful time together," Ederson said in a heartfelt farewell. "Playing for City has been the most special time of my life, and I will always be a fan of this special club. I'm going with my wife and children, but I'm leaving a big family here. Once a Blue, always a Blue."

City's director of football Hugo Viana paid tribute, saying: "The fact no goalkeeper has ever won more Premier League titles says everything you need to know about his quality and consistency in a City shirt. He has truly cemented his place in the history of Manchester City."

With Ederson making his move to Turkey, City swiftly completed the signing of Donnarumma, who joins on a five-year contract with the option of a sixth. The 26-year-old will wear the number 99 shirt - the same number he wore at both AC Milan and PSG. His arrival marks City's seventh and final signing of the transfer window, taking their total spending in this transfer window to 185.8 million pounds.

Donnarumma arrives fresh from a Champions League-winning season with PSG but was deemed surplus to requirements in Paris. At City, he will compete for the number one shirt with 22-year-old James Trafford, who rejoined from Burnley earlier this window and has started the club's first three Premier League fixtures. However, Trafford has come under scrutiny following a recent 2–0 defeat to Tottenham.

With Donnarumma's arrival and Ederson's departure, City have signaled the beginning of a new era in goal - one that could shape their ambitions in England and Europe for years to come.
