Inter Milan snap up Man City defender Manuel Akanji on loan

The Switzerland international has joined the Serie A side on an initial season-long loan, with an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.

According to Sky in Italy, the loan fee is around 900,000 pounds, with the obligation to buy set at 13 million pounds.

Akanji, 30, moved to City from Borussia Dortmund in September 2022 and has made 136 appearances for the club.

He was a key part of the City squad that achieved the historic treble in the 2022-23 season, winning the Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup, and also contributed to the team's Premier League title defense in 2024.

Despite making 40 appearances in the 2024-25 campaign, Akanji had been linked with a transfer, attracting interest from AC Milan and Crystal Palace before ultimately securing his move to Inter.
