Raphinha hat-trick powers Barcelona to big win over Sevilla

Barcelona extended their remarkable home form with a 15th consecutive win, ending Sevilla's five-match unbeaten run in emphatic fashion at the Camp Nou.

The hosts struck early when Joao Cancelo won a penalty in the eighth minute. Raphinha stepped up and confidently chipped the ball down the middle with a Panenka, scoring his first league goal since January.

The Brazilian doubled his tally soon after from the spot again. This time Sevilla defender Jose Angel Carmona handled Cancelo's cross inside the area, and Raphinha fired a powerful effort past goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos to make it 2-0.

Barcelona continued to dominate and soon added a third. Dani Olmo finished a swift counter-attack with a low drive after Sevilla had briefly threatened through Lucien Agoume.

Sevilla pulled one back just before half-time when Chidera Ejuke volleyed home at the far post to give the visitors a glimmer of hope.

However, Barcelona quickly ended any hopes of a comeback early in the second half. Substitute Fermin Lopez surged forward and slipped a pass to Raphinha, whose effort deflected in off Nemanja Gudelj to complete his hat-trick.

Cancelo then capped an outstanding performance with Barcelona's fifth goal, bursting forward and finishing through Vlachodimos' legs for his first goal since returning to the club.

Sevilla did manage a late consolation when Djibril Sow scored in the closing stages, but it did little to change the outcome.

Despite the comfortable win, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick admitted he was not completely satisfied with his team's performance.

"A lot of things went well, but there are some situations on the pitch that I didn't like very much," Flick said. "We scored five goals and took three points, but at the beginning we didn't play with enough conviction."

He added that his players must raise their level ahead of their next challenge.

"We have played a lot of games and maybe for some players it is too much, but we must play faster in the next matches because Newcastle are a great team. On Wednesday we have to be at our best."

There was also a positive moment for Barcelona as midfielder Gavi returned from injury, making his first appearance in more than six months.

"We are very happy for the victory and for Gavi's return," Flick said. "It is an important step for him. The situation in the match allowed him to play some minutes, and everyone at the club is happy he is back."

Flick also praised Cancelo's impact after the defender won two penalties and scored.

"He needed time because he had not played since November, but he has great technical quality," Flick said. "He scored a great goal and won the penalties. I think bringing him back was the right decision."

Barcelona's victory also marked their 23rd straight home match unbeaten against Sevilla, underlining their dominance in this fixture while keeping their title push firmly on track.
