Reds move back into Premier League top four with win over Crystal Palace

Pierre Sage's Crystal Palace started brightly and created the better early chances.

Yeremy Pino struck the crossbar, and Alisson Becker was forced into several important saves, including a sharp stop from Daichi Kamada and another to deny Adam Wharton, while Palace also had a goal ruled out for offside.

The visitors gradually grew into the contest and took the lead in the 40th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai whipped a free-kick in for Alexis Mac Allister, who rose unmarked at the near post to head home.

Nine minutes into the second half, Liverpool doubled their lead with Bradley Barcola guiding low cross into the box from the right to an unmarked Florian Wirtz and the German midfielder finished calmly for his first Premier League goal of the season.

Alexander Isak sealed the result in the 89th minute with a clinical finish, assisted by Wirtz, before Eddie Nketiah converted a stoppage-time penalty (90+5') after a foul by Milos Kerkez to deny Alisson a clean sheet.

The result leaves Palace bottom of the table after 10 games and increases pressure on Sage. Liverpool move up to fourth and head into the international break on a positive note, with strong away form this season.
