Report: Chelsea eager to sign Everton star Jarrad Branthwaite

The 22-year-old centre-back was instrumental in keeping the Toffees in the Premier League, forming a formidable partnership with James Tarkowski.

Everton kept 10 clean sheets and conceded the joint-third-fewest goals in the league during the 2024/25 campaign, thanks in no small part to Branthwaite's composed performances.

Chelsea, under new manager Enzo Maresca, are seriously considering a summer move for Branthwaite as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Branthwaite is thought to be high on Chelsea's shortlist, especially after the club missed out on Dean Huijsen, who joined Real Madrid.

Ajax's Jorrel Hato is also being monitored, but Branthwaite's Premier League pedigree makes him an appealing alternative.

Tottenham Hotspur are also monitoring the situation, though their interest is not as advanced. With Ben Davies expected to depart, Spurs may explore reinforcing their defensive ranks, albeit without the same urgency as Chelsea.

However, Everton are in no mood to part with one of the league's most promising defenders. Branthwaite is under contract until 2027, with an option for a further year, and the club is under no financial pressure to sell.

Manager David Moyes sees Branthwaite as a cornerstone of his plans and is determined to retain the young star.
