Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman joins Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr
Kingsley Coman has ended his decade-long spell with Bayern Munich, sealing a high-profile transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.
The 29-year-old, known for his blistering pace and trophy-laden career, is set to join forces with global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in a move that underscores Al-Nassr's ambitious push for dominance.
Bayern Munich have given the green light for Coman to travel on August 14, to finalize the transfer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
"Coman will leave Munich in the next hours as his move to Al-Nassr is done," Romano said, confirming the deal's completion. The agreement follows weeks of negotiations, with Al-Nassr submitting their first official bid on August 8, as Romano reported on X.
The transfer fee has sparked some debate among sources. Romano indicated that Bayern will receive just under 30 million euros, while Sky Germany reported a base fee of 30 million euros, potentially rising to 35 million euros with performance-related bonuses. Regardless, the deal represents a significant financial boost for Bayern, who have already moved to reinforce their squad with the signing of Luis Diaz from Liverpool.
Coman, who famously scored the winning goal in Bayern's 2020 Champions League final triumph over Paris Saint-Germain, has agreed to a three-year contract with Al-Nassr, according to multiple reports.
Sport BILD journalist Michel Schroer noted that Coman is expected to fly to Hong Kong to join his new teammates, potentially making his debut in the Saudi Super Cup. "His arrival will add serious firepower to Al-Nassr's attack," Schroer said.
The move ends Coman's illustrious decade-long spell with Bayern, where he played 339 matches, scored 72 goals, and provided 71 assists. Despite his contributions, including nine Bundesliga titles and a Champions League crown, Coman's playing time dwindled under manager Vincent Kompany following the arrival of Michael Olise.
This shift prompted Coman to seek a fresh challenge, with Al-Nassr's lucrative offer, reportedly 20 to 25 million euros per year, proving too tempting to resist.
Al-Nassr, managed by Jorge Jesus, are building a formidable squad with recent signings like Joao Felix and Inigo Martinez. Coman's addition signals their intent to challenge for the Saudi Pro League title and make waves in Asian competitions.
"We're creating something special here," an Al-Nassr source said, as quoted by Goal.com, highlighting the club's growing global appeal.
For Bayern, the funds from Coman's transfer could fuel further moves, with reports from Sky Deutschland suggesting they are targeting Stuttgart's Nick Woltemade in a deal potentially worth 60 million euros plus bonuses.
As Coman prepares for his medical and a new chapter in Saudi Arabia, football fans eagerly await his impact alongside Ronaldo and Mane in what promises to be a thrilling attacking trio.
