Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman joins Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr
Kingsley Coman has ended his decade-long spell with Bayern Munich, sealing a high-profile transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.
The 23-year-old has inked a deal until June 2030, with the transfer fee reported at 25 million euros, including performance-based bonuses.
Romulo, who will don the number 40 jersey, arrives after a stellar season in Turkey's Super Lig, where he notched 17 goals and 10 assists in 33 appearances across all competitions.
His dynamic displays helped Goztepe secure promotion to the top flight, marking him as one of the league's standout performers. The Brazilian's journey began at Maringa FC's academy, where he shone as a top scorer in Parana's U17 State Championship. A move to Athletico Paranaense followed, before his loan to Goztepe in February 2024 turned permanent earlier this year.
Leipzig's sporting director, Marcel Schafer, praised the new signing's versatility. "Romulo brings a strong physique, clean technique, and a sharp eye for goal," Schafer said. "His ability to adapt quickly to different leagues in Brazil and Turkey impressed us. We believe he'll add fresh energy to our attack."
Romulo, standing at 6'4" and drawing comparisons to Sesko for his hold-up play and long-range shooting, expressed his excitement about the move. "Joining Leipzig is a massive step for me," he said. "The Bundesliga is one of the world's top leagues, and I'm eager to prove myself."
The Red Bulls, who missed European football last season after finishing seventh, are undergoing a rebuild under new manager Ole Werner and Red Bull's global head of football, Jurgen Klopp.
Alongside Romulo, Leipzig have signed young talents like Johan Bakayoko and Arthur Vermeeren to reignite their campaign.
Posts on X also highlight Leipzig's ambition, with transfer insider Fabrizio Romano noting the club's agreement included a 20 million euro base fee and a sell-on clause for Goztepe.
Fans are buzzing about Romulo's potential to partner with star striker Lois Openda, with many expecting the duo to spark Leipzig's return to the Bundesliga's elite.
The Brazilian could make his debut in the DFB-Pokal against Sandhausen, provided registration is completed, or in the Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich.
With Romulo's arrival, Leipzig are signaling their intent to charge back into contention.
