Report: Newcastle ready to increase bid for Brighton star Joao Pedro

Chelsea have also registered interest, while Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has reportedly made Pedro his top attacking target.

Pedro, 23, has told Brighton he wishes to leave the Amex Stadium this summer, setting the stage for a potential high-profile move.

The Seagulls value him at 70 million pounds - more than double the club-record 30 million they paid Watford for his services in May 2023.

Newcastle are expected to return with an improved bid, hoping to bring Pedro to St James' Park as the club's third Brazilian, alongside Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

His versatility - capable of operating as a striker, No.10, or winger - is believed to be a key factor in Howe's pursuit.

Pedro's impact at Brighton has been impressive. In his debut campaign (2023/24), he netted 20 goals across all competitions, including 9 in the Premier League, 5 in the FA Cup, and 6 in the Europa League.

The current season (2024/25) has seen him reach double figures in league goals for the first time, underlining his continued development.
