Report: Newcastle want Joao Pedro, Anthony Elanga, James Trafford

Manager Eddie Howe is keen to finalise key signings before pre-season begins in early July, with the Magpies aiming to bolster their squad despite financial constraints.

Restricted once again by the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), Newcastle are pursuing cost-conscious but high-impact moves.

Their top targets include Joao Pedro of Brighton, Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest, and Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

The proposed fees - 50 million pounds each for Pedro and Elanga, and 25 million for Trafford - have reportedly been discussed verbally, though no formal bids have been confirmed.

All three players are believed to be open to a move to St James' Park. Brighton, who have a track record of selling top talent for the right price, may be willing to negotiate over Pedro.

Nottingham Forest, however, are understood to be reluctant to part with Elanga, yet Newcastle remain persistent in their pursuit. Burnley's Trafford is also under consideration as Howe looks to strengthen his goalkeeping options.

Newcastle will join fellow English sides Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Tottenham in the Champions League.

The draw for the new league phase format will be held in late August, giving Howe time to shape a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.
