Report: Saudi clubs chase Tottenham captain Son Heung-min
Son Heung-min's future at Tottenham remains uncertain as the South Korean star prepares for pre-season talks with the club.
The club confirmed the extension on Thursday, tying the 40-year-old to the Riyadh-based side until 2027.
"A new chapter begins. Same passion, same dream. Let's make history together," Ronaldo shared on X, expressing his excitement for the journey ahead.
Al Nassr, part-owned by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, are chasing their first Pro League title since the 2018-19 season. Ronaldo, who joined the club in 2023, has yet to claim the Saudi championship despite lifting league trophies with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus.
His hunger for silverware remains undimmed, with the forward targeting domestic glory to add to his glittering career.
Ronaldo's scoring prowess has been relentless in Saudi Arabia. In 2023, he led Al Nassr to their maiden Arab Club Champions Cup triumph, topping the tournament's scoring charts and netting both goals in a 2-1 final win over rivals Al Hilal.
However, league success has eluded the team, who finished the 2024-25 campaign trailing champions Al Ittihad and second-placed Al Hilal, narrowly securing a spot in the AFC Champions League.
Speculation about Ronaldo's future swirled earlier this year when FIFA president Gianni Infantino suggested the star could feature in the revamped Club World Cup in the United States. Rumours even linked him to a loan move to PIF-owned rivals Al Hilal, but Al Nassr quickly quashed such talk by locking in their talisman for two more years.
The club face a new chapter on the pitch following the dismissal of manager Stefano Pioli this week. Pioli, who succeeded Ronaldo's compatriot Luis Castro in September 2024, paid the price for Al Nassr's inconsistent domestic form. Castro had previously guided the team to the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup, but the league title remains the ultimate goal.
Ronaldo's journey began in 2002 at Sporting CP, where his dazzling displays caught the eye of Manchester United's legendary manager Alex Ferguson. Since then, the forward has maintained an extraordinary goal-scoring record across Europe and now the Middle East.
As Al Nassr rebuild under new management, Ronaldo's leadership and lethal finishing will be central to their ambitions.
Recent posts on X from Al Nassr's official account celebrated the extension, calling Ronaldo "the heart of the team" and rallying fans to support their pursuit of the Pro League crown.
With the AFC Champions League also on the horizon, where Al Ahli's victory over Kawasaki Frontale in May 2025 set a high bar, Al Nassr are banking on their star man to deliver.
