Report: Rasmus Hojlund faces Old Trafford exit as Man Utd eye attacking overhaul

The Red Devils, who have struggled through a dismal Premier League campaign, are targeting a revitalized attack, with three forwards already linked as possible replacements.

United's season has been nothing short of chaotic, with the team languishing in the lower half of the Premier League table and facing the possibility of finishing as low as 17th.

Despite reaching the Europa League final, their domestic form has exposed deep flaws, prompting head coach Ruben Amorim to demand sweeping changes. "I am embarrassed that in 26 games, we have won six. Something is wrong with the way we are playing football," Amorim said after a recent match. "It is not just on the pitch, it is outside the pitch. We have all the conditions to be better."

Hojlund, signed for 64 million pounds from Atalanta in 2023, showed promise in his debut season, netting 16 goals. However, the 22-year-old Dane has struggled this term, managing just a handful of goals and being outshone by teammate Joshua Zirkzee.

Reports from The Telegraph suggest Hojlund's future at Old Trafford is uncertain, with United open to offers amid interest from Serie A clubs, including Juventus, who are reportedly preparing a bid.

Financial constraints are shaping United's transfer strategy. After a frugal January window that saw only Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven arrive, while Marcus Rashford and Antony departed on loan, Amorim's side are likely to need sales to fund new signings. The Telegraph reported that Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho are among those available for permanent transfers, with Hojlund's name also on the list.

To bolster their attack, United are targeting Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha, and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. Delap, a 21-year-old with a knack for finding the net, has caught attention with his performances in the Premier League. Cunha's flair and work rate make him a strong fit for Amorim's high-pressing system, while Mbeumo's versatility and goal-scoring prowess have made him a long-term target.

Amorim's vision extends beyond signings. He has emphasized a cultural shift, criticizing his squad's mentality. "Sometimes it is not about the way we play tactically, it is the way we face competition and suffer," he said. With a crucial Europa League final against Tottenham looming, United are at a crossroads. Victory could secure Champions League football and boost their transfer budget, but defeat might deepen the sense of crisis.

For now, all eyes are on Hojlund and United's next moves. The summer promises to be a defining moment for a club desperate to reclaim its place among the elite.
