Report: West Ham reject Tottenham's bid for Mohammed Kudus
West Ham United have reportedly turned down a 50-million-pound bid from Tottenham for attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, according to reports.
While Kudus has an 85-million-pound release clause - valid to Premier League clubs for the first 10 days of July - Spurs believe they can secure him for significantly less.
New Spurs manager Thomas Frank is seeking attacking reinforcements and sees Kudus as a versatile and dynamic option. The Ghanaian's best position is on the right wing, currently occupied at West Ham by Jarrod Bowen, which has led Hammers boss Graham Potter to question Kudus's fit in his tactical system.
Despite being sent off against Spurs last season and handed a five-match ban, Kudus remains firmly on Tottenham's radar.
Frank, who is likely to miss out on former Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo - expected to join Manchester United - is also eyeing Antoine Semenyo and Eberechi Eze as potential alternatives.
Kudus joined West Ham from Ajax two years ago for 37 million pounds. After an impressive debut campaign, he struggled last season, scoring just four goals.
West Ham, under financial strain and needing to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Regulations, may reluctantly sell Kudus to fund a squad rebuild under Potter.
Although club rivalry makes West Ham hesitant to sell to Spurs, pragmatism may prevail if a strong offer arrives.
