Romuald Rakotondrabe proud to lead Madagascar to CHAN final

The island nation recorded a 1-0 win over Sudan to secure a final place against Morocco.

The Atlas Lions secured their final place with a 5-3 penalty shootout win over Senegal after their game ended 1-1 after extra-time.

Toky Rakotondraibe scored the winning goal in the 116th minute for Madagascar after the two sides could not be separated at full-time - after Berea were reduced to 10 men with the dismissal of Fenohasina Razafimaro after 79 minutes.

Speaking after the match, a delighted Rakotondrabe said on AfricanFootball: "I can't find the words to express it now, because what happened is unbelievable considering the circumstances in which we played the match.

"We lost a player to injury at the beginning of the match, then another player received a red card and for 50 minutes we played with one player less, and then we scored and won.

"Thanks to the players for their performance. They really have a good character and that's what enabled us to win."

Looking ahead to the final, Rakotondrabe added: "I can't answer the question of whether we can win the title. Beating Sudan doesn't mean we'll win the title.

"We lost two players before the final, but despite that, we have several players and we'll find replacements. I hope there are players who can make a difference on the pitch in the final."
