The 33-year-old former Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Bloemfontein Celtic striker joined the Natal Rich Boys from Marumo Gallants this season.
He has scored four goals in 12 top-flight appearances this term, including an important equaliser as Richards Bay drew 1-1 with Sekhukhune United on Tuesday.
Mhango also recently netted two goals for Malawian during the September international break.
Speaking after the midweek Premiership game, Gabriel said on FARPost: "We think he has had fantastic progress so far; he has been influential.
"We brought him to score goals, and he has been scoring goals, leading the youngsters as well in terms of guiding them and what is required at this level.
"As you know, we have a young squad, and that type of influence rubs off on the youngsters. So there's been positive energy in the group."
"We must commend the group for the hard work and determination to come back from 1-0 down against a very dominant Sekhukhune in their home ground," Gabriel added.
The result left Richards Bay 11th on the league standings with 13 points from 12 games.
They are next in action against Orlando Pirates in the semi-finals of the Carling Knockout on Saturday.
