Ruben Amorim hopes Man Utd build momentum against Bournemouth

United host Brentford on Saturday aiming to end a barren run that stretches back more than a year. The Red Devils have not won back-to-back Premier League matches in the same season since May 2024, a statistic that underlined the disarray of their previous campaign.

Last season proved disastrous for the club, who stumbled to 15th place - their lowest top-flight finish in 51 years - and failed to record consecutive league wins at any point. Amorim, brought in to stabilise and rebuild, believes breaking that cycle is vital if United are to move forward.

The Portuguese manager saw his team grind out a chaotic 2-1 victory over Chelsea last weekend, a result that lifted spirits but also highlighted ongoing flaws. Amorim acknowledged the importance of using that win as a platform rather than another false dawn.

"I think it's going to help us," said Amorim. "I know that for people outside the club it's not a big thing (to achieve).

"It should not be a big thing in Manchester United, but I think it's going to help us a lot (if we do it).

"It's not about playing well, it's the way we are going to do the warm-up and the preparation, and if we are excited to go to the game, like we are sometimes when we are in the limit and we have to win some games.

"If we have always that feeling, I think it's going to be massive for us, so it's massive to win this game."
