Ruben Amorim says he expects to remain Manchester United head coach

The Portuguese boss responded to questions regarding his future with the Red Devils following his post-match comments after the surprise loss to Grimsby Town in their second round Carabao Cup clash.

"I am the manager of Manchester United, and I think that is not going to change," said Amorim to reporters in his first press conference since the loss to the Football League Two club.

“We need to focus on a lot of things. The players are always thinking in the past, it is in our minds. We need to focus on the next game. We dropped a level, and we need to respond.”

United are winless in their opening three matches of the 2025/26 season in all competitions but boast an eight-match unbeaten run against upcoming opponents Burnley.

"Last game (against Grimsby), we had moments where I had the feeling that when it is tough, everyone does their own thing. We have to change that feeling. We have to work on that, to work on that is the next game." added the 40-year-old.

Amorim will be looking to improve on his current record as manager at Old Trafford following eight defeats in his first 14 Premier League matches at home since joining the English giants.
