Rulani Mokwena: I didn't need any motivation to join aggressive and passionate MC Alger
Rulani Mokwena says he joined MC Alger as head coach because the club's ambitions align with his own career goals.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss takes over at the Algerian Ligue 1 Champions after guiding Wydad AC to third place in the 2024/26 Botola Pro 1.
Mokwena a full technical team to Morocco, including Alan Freese, Sinethemba Badela, Sibusiso Mahlangu and Sibusiso Makitla and has now revealed who work with him at his new post.
Joinng Mokwena will be assistant coach Enzo Donis, goalkeeper coach Wendell Robinson, and Mahlangu as fitness and conditioning coach.
The new boss told Metro FM: "The club [MC Alger] is insisting on a couple of people in the technical team, which is excellent because that still breeds familiarity.
"And there's still technical stuff that knows how to win and do well in the [CAF] Champions League with this group, they know the culture.
"Hopefully, we can establish a good relationship with them very soon. That's why I've got coach Wendell, who also speaks the goalkeeping language, and if we retain the goalkeeping coach, maybe the relationship can be established there.
"I have an assistant coach who worked at AS Vita, and he's from Belgium. He's coming on and he has agreed to leave his job with the Togo national team.
“So he's excited by the project. He's someone who allows us to have a hybrid because he also has expertise as a setpiece coach. It's a well-thought-out space, and we also have Sbu [Mahlangu] from the conditioning side.”
