Emotional Ali Abdi apologises to Tunisia fans following Japan defeat
Tunisia defender Ali Abdi delivered an emotional assessment of his national team’s struggles after their 4-0 defeat to Japan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The France defender praised Olise after the 24-year-old helped his country defeat Senegal 3-1 in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Olise recorded one assist, created four chances and produced two shots on target, earning the Man of the Match award for his influential display.
Saliba has been impressed by the winger's rapid development and believes his technical quality and intelligence make him a special player for France.
"As everyone can see, I think he's a star. He's a very, very good player," Saliba said.
Olise has become one of Europe's most exciting attacking talents, with his creativity, composure and ability to make decisive contributions turning him into an important figure for both Bayern Munich and the national team.
The Arsenal defender believes Olise has the qualities to achieve great things but warned that comparisons with French legends Michel Platini and Zinedine Zidane must be handled carefully.
"Of course there is still a long way to go before he can be compared to Michel Platini or Zinedine Zidane," Saliba explained. "But in any case, it's a pleasure to have him in our team."
However, Saliba admitted he hopes Olise can eventually reach the same level as some of France's greatest-ever players.
"He's a player who can do everything and who can break the deadlock in all sorts of situations," he said. "I hope that one day he'll be in a league with Platini and Zidane, but it's too early now."
Saliba highlighted Olise's decision-making as one of his biggest strengths, praising the way he combines skill with maturity.
"Technically he is world-class. He can shoot, he can dribble, he can pass… he always plays the right ball and makes the right decision."
"He's not the type of player who'll try to dribble past everyone. When he needs to pass, he passes. When he needs to dribble, he dribbles."
Olise's impressive World Cup debut has strengthened the belief that France have another elite attacking talent ready to shine on the biggest stage.
For Saliba, watching the Bayern star develop has already been a privilege.
"Honestly, it's a pleasure to watch him play," he said.
With France continuing their World Cup campaign against Iraq on Monday, 22 June, expectations around Olise are growing as he looks to build on a memorable start to the tournament.
