Stellenbosch bid farewell to Ibraheem Jabaar, Orlando Pirates-bound Mthetheleli Mthiyane

The latest announcements form part of an extensive squad reshuffle at the Winelands-based club as head coach Gavin Hunt continues shaping his team for his first full campaign in charge.

Having taken over midway through last season following Steve Barker's departure to Simba SC, Hunt has already overseen significant changes to the playing personnel after previously indicating that several players would move on.

Prior to confirming the exits of Jabaar and Mthiyane, Stellenbosch had already parted ways with Oscarine Masuluke, Kazie Enyinnaya, Khomotjo Lekoloane, Dejean Ah Shene, Lee Langeveldt, Olisa Ndah, Wayde Jooste, Athenkosi Mcaba and Kyle Jurgens.

Defender Thabo Moloisane has also completed a move to Kaizer Chiefs, while Tshegofatso Mabasa, Kobamelo Kodisang and Asekho Tiwani departed following the expiration of their respective loan agreements.

The club confirmed that Jabaar's departure follows unsuccessful negotiations over a new contract.

"Former Nigeria youth international, Ibraheem Jabaar, has parted ways with Stellenbosch FC following the expiration of his contract after the parties were unable to reach an agreement on an extension," the club wrote on their statement.

"Jabaar leaves as one of the club's most decorated and consistent performers. During his five-year stay, he made 140 appearances across all competitions - ranking fourth on Stellenbosch's all-time appearance list - and became the foreign player with the most appearances in club history."

"The 23-year-old also made history by becoming the only player to win the Maroons' Young Player of the Season award twice, earning the accolade in the 2021/22 and 2024–26 campaigns."

The club also confirmed Mthiyane's exit after a standout debut season.

"He is joined on the departure list by Mthetheleli Mthiyane, who has completed a permanent transfer to reigning Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates."

Mthiyane arrived from Milford FC ahead of the 2025/26 campaign and made 38 appearances in all competitions. His performances earned him a preliminary Bafana Bafana call-up and nominations for both the Rama Fans' Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards.

Stellenbosch thanked both players for their service and wished them success in the next chapter of their careers.
