Stuttgart invest in future with permanent 21-year-old Moroccan star signing
The Bundesliga club confirmed that all conditions tied to the loan agreement with Leicester City have now been fulfilled, automatically triggering the obligation to make the deal permanent.
Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth welcomed the development, underlining the club's commitment to the 21-year-old.
"All the conditions have now been met," he said, reported Moroccoworldnews.com.
"We are delighted that we have secured Bilal's permanent commitment to VfB Stuttgart."
El Khannouss initially arrived in Germany in September on a season-long loan that included a mandatory purchase clause linked to his appearances. Having comfortably reached that threshold, Stuttgart have now finalised the transfer.
According to Sport Bild, the German side will pay around 18 million euros plus bonuses, on top of the 3.5 million-euro loan fee already paid - bringing the total package to approximately 21.5 million.
The deal reflects Stuttgart's long-term belief in the midfielder, who is set to sign a contract running until 2030. Notably, the agreement does not include a release clause, while performance-related bonuses could see his annual earnings rise to 3 million euros.
El Khannouss has justified that faith with his performances on the pitch. He has enjoyed his most productive season to date, registering eight goals and six assists in 33 appearances - surpassing his output during his previous stint at Leicester City.
His rapid development has also been recognised in his market value, which has climbed to 32 million euros, suggesting Stuttgart may have secured a bargain for a player entering his prime years.
After leaving KRC Genk for Leicester in a 21-million-pound move in 2024, El Khannouss' time in England was cut short following the club's relegation. However, his switch to Stuttgart has reignited his trajectory, with the midfielder quickly establishing himself as a central figure in the squad.
With his future now secured, Stuttgart will be hoping their investment continues to pay dividends as El Khannouss' influence in the Bundesliga grows.
