Nigeria's failure to qualify for consecutive FIFA World Cups in 2022 and 2026 has intensified scrutiny of the current squad, which includes high-profile players such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and Alex Iwobi.
Oliseh believes the present generation falls short of the standards set by the team he represented, pointing to the quality of players and their involvement with Europe's leading clubs.
Speaking on The Play Zone Podcast, the former midfielder argued that the 1994 squad possessed superior quality and stronger representation at top European clubs, as reported by Legit.ng.
Under Dutch coach Clemens Westerhof, Nigeria enjoyed a memorable year in 1994, winning their second Africa Cup of Nations title in Tunisia. The Super Eagles defeated Zambia 2-1 in the final, with Emmanuel Amuneke scoring both goals.
They subsequently made their maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup in the United States, finishing top of Group D ahead of Argentina, Bulgaria and Greece.
Nigeria's impressive campaign ended in the round of 16 after a 2-1 extra-time defeat to eventual finalists Italy.
The team's achievements also saw them reach fifth in the FIFA World Rankings in April 1994, the highest position ever attained by an African men's national team.
That squad featured several outstanding players, including goalkeeper Peter Rufai, defenders Stephen Keshi and Uche Okechukwu, midfielders Oliseh, Mutiu Adepoju and Austin Okocha, as well as attacking stars Rashidi Yekini, Daniel Amokachi, Finidi George and Victor Ikpeba.
