Thomas Muller: Bayern's home advantage will make the difference against PSG

Muller has backed his former side to overturn a 5-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, despite trailing by a single goal heading into the return fixture. The pulsating encounter, staged in Paris last week, delivered attacking football of the highest order.

Writing in his newsletter, Muller, a former Germany international, labelled the contest a "spectacle" and a "true advertisement" for the sport. While many expect another open, high-scoring clash in the second leg, he anticipates a more cautious tactical approach given the stakes.

The shift in dynamic, he argues, is typical of decisive knockout matches. Nevertheless, Muller remains optimistic that Bayern have the quality and mentality required to edge the tie and secure a place in the final.

"My thesis: the second leg will be different," the club legend wrote in his newsletter.

"From the 60th minute onwards, both teams will have the result in mind, and that's when the adjustments come. Whoever is in the lead will be willing to sit a bit deeper, while the other takes control. That dynamic will shape the return leg.

"5-4 is not a disaster. There are more comfortable situations, of course. But Paris only have a one-goal advantage, and the second leg is at home.

"I actually liked Bayern's performance in Paris even more than in the Madrid matches [in the quarter-finals]. That consistency in their own game and that level of belief - it matters, because mentally you first have to process going 5-2 down.

"Bayern kept playing their football. No reckless, all-out chaos - just a confident push for a comeback. If Bayern deliver another 90 minutes like they did in Paris, they'll win this by one or two goals."
