Tottenham sign experienced goalkeeper Martin Dubravka after Burnley exit

The 37-year-old Slovakia international will officially join the north London club on July 1, once his contract with Burnley expires, arriving on a free transfer after a campaign in which he made 35 Premier League appearances for the Clarets.

Dubravka, who has also previously played for Newcastle and Manchester United, brings extensive top-flight experience, having featured 197 times in the Premier League and kept 51 clean sheets.

"It's an exciting time for me, a new journey and new experience for me and my family. I'm looking forward to it," Dubravka said. "Everything moved pretty quickly and I'm really happy to be here. I've loved watching Roberto's teams over the years and know all about his style, vision and the fantastic fans here."

Tottenham have been active in the transfer market as De Zerbi continues to reshape a squad that has struggled in recent seasons, with the club narrowly avoiding relegation after back-to-back 17th-placed finishes.

Dubravka becomes the fourth addition, joining defenders Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson and Jan Paul van Hecke, in what has been a significant rebuild. Van Hecke arrived in a 52 million pounds deal from Brighton, while Senesi and Robertson joined on free transfers.

De Zerbi praised his new signing's qualities, highlighting the veteran goalkeeper's leadership and mentality.

"I am very happy because Martin is a goalkeeper with big experience and a strong mentality," the Tottenham head coach said. "He has very important qualities for me and will bring balance, leadership and competitiveness to our dressing room."

The arrival of Dubravka adds further uncertainty to Tottenham's goalkeeping hierarchy. Guglielmo Vicario, who shared number one duties last season, has reportedly attracted interest from Serie A clubs, while Antonín Kinsky briefly established himself as first choice towards the end of the campaign.

Kinsky's rise included a standout performance against Leeds United, though his season also featured setbacks, including being substituted early in a Champions League clash at Atletico Madrid.

Reports suggest Kinsky may now retain the number one role, with Vicario potentially set for an exit as Spurs continue to reshape their squad.

Dubravka's arrival underlines a broader defensive rebuild under De Zerbi, as Tottenham look to stabilise after a difficult period and re-establish themselves as a competitive Premier League force.
