Tottenham sign Marcos Senesi as Roberto De Zerbi strengthens defence

The 29-year-old Argentine defender will officially become a Tottenham player on July 1 when his contract with Bournemouth expires, ending a successful four-year spell on the south coast.

Senesi made 128 appearances in all competitions for Bournemouth, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists during his time at the club. Despite attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Italy, the centre-back chose to remain in the Premier League and was eager to make the move to north London.

Speaking after the transfer was confirmed, Senesi expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham and the project being built at the club.

"It's a very special feeling to be a Tottenham Hotspur player," he said.

"From the first moment, the club has shown why they want me and how much they want me to be a part of what they are building. It's exciting and something I can't wait to be involved in."

The defender also outlined his ambitions for the future and his commitment to the club's supporters.

"Every time I step on the pitch, I will do my best to make the fans proud and to take the club back to the place it belongs. I want to win things with Tottenham and will do everything I can to make that happen."

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi believes Senesi will bring valuable experience and quality to his squad.

"Marcos' experience, quality on the ball and competitive edge will strengthen us defensively, as well as giving us flexibility in formation," said De Zerbi.

"He's comfortable playing in a possession-based team, reads the game very well and has the personality to thrive in a demanding environment.

"I also love his mentality and desire to keep improving and I'm looking forward to working with him and seeing the big contribution he can make to the team."

Senesi arrives as an experienced Premier League defender as Tottenham continue to strengthen under De Zerbi ahead of the new season.
