Transfer confusion stalls Matome Mmolai's TS Galaxy debut

Transfer confusion stalls Matome Mmolai's TS Galaxy debut

The 23-year-old midfielder was announced by Galaxy earlier this year after a standout campaign with JDR Stars in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

However, following JDR's sale of their league status to Leicesterford City FC, confusion around Mmolai's transfer has left him unable to play a single competitive match for his new club.

Leicesterford City has reportedly challenged the legitimacy of the deal, claiming Galaxy failed to complete the transfer through the correct channels.

As a result, the new club has withheld Mmolai's clearance, leaving the player in limbo as the two parties seek resolution.

Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic confirmed that the club is still battling to secure the player's registration, expressing both disappointment and hope that the issue will be resolved by the January transfer window.

"We can't use him because we are fighting for his papers with his previous club," Beganovic said during the Carling Knockout Cup media day at Sturrock Park this week.

"He's a young, dynamic player with great energy and technique. Once everything is sorted, he will be an important asset for us."

Before joining JDR Stars, Mmolai featured for Dondol Stars in the ABC Motsepe League, where his creativity and control drew widespread attention.

While the paperwork battle continues off the pitch, Galaxy will focus on their Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal against Golden Arrows at the King Zwelithini Stadium this Sunday—hoping to maintain momentum amid the uncertainty surrounding their sidelined signing.
