Victor Osimhen claims Sportsman of the Year award in Turkey

The 26-year-old Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward received the distinction during an elaborate ceremony held on Wednesday night, further cementing his status as one of the most influential footballers in Turkish football.

Osimhen's recognition follows a remarkable 2024/25 campaign in which he delivered a standout impact for Galatasaray.

Last season, he scored 37 goals and supplied seven assists in 41 matches, performances that proved decisive in guiding the Istanbul giants to the league title.

His dominance in front of goal not only powered Galatasaray's championship run but also reinforced his reputation as one of Europe's most lethal forwards.

Such success prompted Galatasaray to secure his services on a permanent basis, completing a record-breaking 75-million-euro transfer from Napoli - the highest fee ever paid by a Turkish club.

The substantial investment has already continued to pay dividends, with Osimhen carrying his momentum into the current season.

In the ongoing campaign, the Nigeria international has maintained his prolific form, scoring 11 goals in 14 appearances.
