Vincent Kompany refuses 'Treble talk' as Bayern enter crucial week

Vincent Kompany refuses 'Treble talk' as Bayern enter crucial week

The German giants have surged into the semi-finals of both the DFB-Pokal Cup and the UEFA Champions League, raising expectations of silverware on multiple fronts.

But Kompany has made it clear his focus remains firmly on the next match, not long-term glory.

"Right now I only want to win against Leverkusen," Kompany said. "I can't say now that I want to be a treble-winning coach, because I know what it means to play in a final or a semi-final. That's the highest level, everything has to work."

Bayern face Bayer Leverkusen in a one-off DFB-Pokal semi-final on Wednesday, a fixture that could define their domestic cup campaign. Kompany stressed the importance of staying present, adding: "I just want to win the next game. Thinking too far ahead is not one of my qualities."

Attention will then quickly turn to Europe on 28 April, where Bayern are set to meet Paris Saint-Germain in a high-stakes Champions League semi-final played over two legs. The first clash takes place in Paris, with a place in the final on the line.

Bayern's recent performances have underlined their credentials as serious contenders, but Kompany's message is clear: success will depend on discipline, focus, and execution in each moment.
