Vincent Kompany seals Bayern Munich contract extension amid unbeaten Bundesliga run

The Bavarians have rewarded the 39-year-old Belgian with a two-year extension on his original contract, which was set to run until 2027.

Kompany has transformed Bayern since arriving in the summer of 2024, guiding them to the Bundesliga crown in his debut campaign and reclaiming the title from Bayer Leverkusen with two matches to spare.

Bayern have kicked off the 2025-26 season in blistering form under his watch, winning all seven of their opening Bundesliga fixtures to sit atop the table.

"I'm grateful, honoured and would like to thank FC Bayern for the trust and the working environment they've given me from day one. It feels like I've been here a lot longer and that I know the club well.

"It's been a great experience so far. We've started on a wonderful journey. Let's keep working hard and celebrate much more success," Kompany said.

Bayern's board member for sport, Max Eberl, has echoed that enthusiasm, highlighting Kompany's unifying influence. "I'm delighted about this extension. When we appointed Vinny, we had a clear vision of our shared path and he quickly proved that he would help FC Bayern move forward, both on and off the pitch.

"He's a role model who unites players, fans and everyone at the club, and we want to build something long-term with him," Eberl has said.
