Vusumuzi Vilakazi talks up Sinoxolo Kwayiba quality after goalscoring return for Chippa

Vusumuzi Vilakazi talks up Sinoxolo Kwayiba quality after goalscoring return for Chippa

The 25-year-old midfielder, who has three national team caps with South Africa, first joined the Chilli Boys from Pretoria Callies in 2023.

He went on to play 43 times, scoring 11 goals and assisting with a further two.

Kwayiba was then snapped up by the Buccaneers but struggled for game-time during his six-month spell with the Betway Premiership leaders, making just four substitute appearances before rejoining Chippa.

He has since played twice under Vilakazi, and netted both goals in the 2-0 league win over Durban City at the end of January.

"He's a key player, it's very important to have Kwayiba in our set-up," Vilakazi said in the Star.

"But also, we had to deal with his psychological aspects as well cause remember that he was not playing at Pirates.

"When he was called in the national team, he was called because of scoring goals. So, I spoke to him and said, 'this is your chance to go back to the national team and go for the World Cup, you just need to score'.

"They identified you before, so they can still call you."

"He's a key player for us," added the Chippa boss.
