The 27-year-old had previously represented DR Congo's U20 team in a friendly against England but switched to play for the latter's U20 and U21 sides, even featuring at the 2019 UEFA European U21 Championship finals.
However, the Croydon-born defender did not make a senior appearance for the Three Lions and has decided to return to play for the country of his parents' birth.
He was previously called up by DR Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre in May this year, but did not join the squad, with the Congolese Football Federation (FECOFA) stating that the player's absence was due to personal medical reasons.
The Leopards will be hoping Wan-Bissaka can help them stay at the top of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group and book a spot in the main tournament for the second time since 1974.
Wan-Bissaka could make his debut against South Sudan on Friday at the Juba Stadium, before hosting second placed Senegal four days later at the Pentecost Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa.
