After Netherlands captain Babette de Leede won the toss and chose to bowl, South Africa's batters made full use of favourable conditions to post an imposing 208/1 from their 20 overs, the highest Women's T20 International total ever scored against the Dutch side.
The innings belonged to opener Tazmin Brits, who produced a magnificent unbeaten 114 from just 69 deliveries. Her innings featured 15 fours and three sixes as she reached a well-deserved century in 63 balls. Brits dominated the Netherlands attack from the outset and ensured South Africa maintained control throughout the innings.
Captain Laura Wolvaardt provided excellent support with a composed 45 off 36 balls. The pair shared a century partnership before Wolvaardt became the only batter dismissed, caught behind off Hannah Landheer in the 14th over.
Annerie Dercksen then added late momentum with a blistering 37 not out from only 16 balls, striking three fours and two sixes to help South Africa surge past the 200-run mark.
Landheer was the only Netherlands bowler to claim a wicket, finishing with figures of 1 for 34, while the rest of the attack struggled to contain South Africa's aggressive batting approach.
Facing a daunting target of 209, Netherlands started steadily but never looked capable of mounting a serious challenge. Phebe Molkenboer battled hard for 41 from 41 balls, while Sanya Khurana contributed 36 and Sterre Kalis added 26.
However, South Africa's bowlers tightened their grip as the required run rate continued to climb. Ayabonga Khaka led the attack brilliantly with 3 for 19, while Chloe Tryon claimed 2 for 16. Their efforts sparked a dramatic collapse as Netherlands lost their final six wickets for just 20 runs and were bowled out for 120.
Brits' outstanding century, supported by Dercksen's late fireworks and a disciplined bowling display led by Khaka and Tryon, secured a comprehensive victory for South Africa and provided a valuable boost to their net run rate as the tournament heads towards its decisive stages.
