Xabi Alonso weighs Arda Guler options as Real Madrid plan young star's future

According to Defensa Central, Guler's rapid progress this season has sparked discussion within the Santiago Bernabeu about his ideal position.

Some members of the coaching staff believe the 20-year-old's flair and creativity make him a natural playmaker suited to an advanced attacking role, while others see him thriving in a deeper midfield position, orchestrating play with his intelligence and range of passing.

Sources close to the dressing room have revealed that Alonso and his staff are taking a patient approach. "It's too early to draw conclusions," one insider said, stressing that Guler's development will not be rushed as the player continues to mature both technically and mentally.

That patience appears to be paying off. After a difficult spell last season, Guler has looked sharper and more confident, delivering three goals and six assists in La Liga so far, along with creating 40 chances. His consistency and composure have quickly made him one of the most exciting young players in Spain.

However, Alonso's challenge is fitting Guler into an already stacked midfield that includes Jude Bellingham, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni. The Real boss reportedly wanted to add another central midfielder in the summer, but club president Florentino Perez opted against further recruitment, trusting Alonso to balance the squad.

Club sources have indicated that the long-term aim is to mould Guler into one of the world's elite midfielders, with the coaching staff expecting his best form to emerge in the decisive spring months of the season.

For now, Real Madrid are content to let his progress unfold naturally. Under Alonso's guidance, Guler appears destined to become a key figure in the next generation at the Bernabeu.
