Zambia held to goalless draw by Comoros in AFCON Group A

The 2012 champions, Zambia, entered the encounter in second place, while Comoros, nicknamed the "Coelacanths," were bottom of the group.

Early exchanges saw the visitors dominate, with Comoros pressing high and creating the first notable chance.

Myziane Maolida appeared to open the scoring in the 19th minute, but the effort was ruled out following a foul in the build-up.

The first half finished with neither side registering a shot on target. Zambia gradually grew into the match, keeping possession in Comoros' half.

Lameck Banda and Kings Kangwa tested the visitors' defence with off-target efforts, but the Coelacanths remained resolute.

In the second half, Zambia continued to dominate possession, but attempts from Fashion Sakala and Kangwa were consistently thwarted by a disciplined Comoros defence.

In the 72nd minute, Comoros introduced veteran winger Faïz Selemani in a bid to seize the initiative. Selemani went close with a header in the 81st minute, only to see his effort go wide.

Tactically, the match highlighted Comoros' ability to absorb pressure and frustrate a more dominant Zambian side, while Zambia struggled to convert possession into clear-cut opportunities.

Despite the scoreline, key performances came from Zambia's Banda, Kangwa, and Sakala, as well as Comoros' Maolida and Selemani.
