The 15-time major winner took to social media on Saturday to reveal had L4-L5 disc replacement surgery on his lumbar spine at a hospital in New York on Friday.
"After experiencing pain and lack of mobility in my back, I consulted with Doctor and Surgeons to have tests taken," read the social media post.
"The scans determined that I had a collapsed disk in L4/5, disc fragments and a compromised spinal canal. I opted to have my disc replaced yesterday, and I already know I made a good decision for my health and my back."
The post went on to say that doctors deemed the surgery a success.
"On Friday, Tiger underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery in his L4/5 Lumbar spine for lower back symptoms. The surgery was deemed successful."
By one count, this is the eighth back surgery Woods has had in his storied career, and the third overall in the last 18 months. In March, Woods revealed that he ruptured his left Achilles tendon while training at home and needed surgery to repair it.
It remains unclear when or if the American will return to professional golf. Woods' last start on Tour was at the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Troon. He did play at the 2024 PNC Championship with his son Charlie, though carts were permitted.
