Brian Campbell clinches second win of the season in John Deere play-off
Brian Campbell captured his second PGA Tour title of the season with a play-off victory over Emiliano Grillo at the John Deere Classic, sealing the win on the first extra hole.
The American signed for a sizzling nine under 61 around a sweltering Hurstbourne Country Club, enough to finish four ahead of the chasing pack. England's Callum Shinkwin, Thomas Rosenmueller of Germany and American Peter Malnati closed with 65s.
Kim got going when he holed out from 123 yards for eagle on the par-4 fourth hole. It kickstarted his flawless round, as he rolled in seven birdies.
"The hole-out on four definitely kick-started the morning," Chan told AP.
"I'm really proud of how I played today. I've missed the last six out of seven cuts, so that's a good feeling to kind of not have to really worry about it. But, obviously, I would love to still play pretty aggressive and see if I can shoot another couple low ones."
Shinkwin also carded an eagle, holing out from 107 yards on the par-four 12th.
"I didn't make any mistakes, which is obviously key," said the Englishman.
"It's very easy to lose concentration in the heat."
