LIV Golf to make South African debut in 2026 as tour expands global footprint

South Africa will host one of six consecutive overseas tournaments to open the LIV Golf season at a venue that is yet to be confirmed, as the tour doubles down on its plans for international expansion.

The addition of a South African stop is a long-awaited triumph for the all-South African Stinger GC - featuring stars Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Dean Burmester, and Branden Grace - who have been vocal in their push to bring LIV Golf to home soil.

Their efforts appear to have paid off, with sources close to the tour confirming the location is "100 percent" locked in, with only the dates subject to change.

The 2026 schedule will be LIV Golf's most globally focused yet, featuring nine tournaments outside the United States, including South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore - doubling the number of overseas tournaments that opened the 2025 calendar.

While Japan was once rumoured to be joining the rotation, it is no longer on the immediate horizon, with LIV opting instead to expand into key Asian markets with tournaments in Hong Kong and Singapore in March.

The United States will not host a LIV Golf event until mid-May when the tour arrives in DC/Virginia - timed strategically just ahead of the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club.

To make way for some of the new international tournaments, LIV will no longer be making stops in Miami and Dallas.
