Neal Shipley makes TGL history with league's first hole-in-one in debut

The 25-year-old PGA Tour rookie aced the 110-yard par-3 fifth hole at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the shortest hole played in TGL history.

His shot carried 112.8 yards to the back of the green before spinning back into the cup, setting off a wild celebration with teammates Min Woo Lee and Luke Clanton, who was also making his TGL debut.

It was the first ace in the league's 27-match history.

"This is different than any hole-in-one I've had before," Shipley said during ESPN's live broadcast. "This is amazing. So cool."

The moment sparked a wild celebration, with Shipley tossing his club in the air as Lee and Clanton hugged and spun around him. Shipley later joked that he had promised to take his shirt off if he made an ace but quickly backed off the idea.

"I don't think anyone wants to see that," he said with a grin.

The Bay Golf Club went on to earn an 11-5 victory over Los Angeles Golf Club, marking its first win after starting the season 0-2. Shipley and Clanton filled in for Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, and Shane Lowry, who were unavailable due to this week's PGA Tour signature event at Pebble Beach.
